As founder and managing partner, I am determined to see our customers receive the best possible return on their investment. Working to these standards requires a combination of art, science, intuition, curiosity and thoughtful work. It also necessitates the highest levels of ethics and patience.
In searches, it’s difficult to find the "bulls eye". Over the last 30 years, I've hired hundreds - if not thousands – of executives at all levels. In my recruiting career with General Electric, M & T Bank and the past 16 years at StraussGroup, I’ve come to realize that reading people is the true catalyst in a successful search. This is much more difficult than just reading resumes.
The art and science of search requires a skill set that can’t be learned in a book. It can't even be taught. It comes from experience and an understanding that no two people and no two companies are alike. Therefore no two assignments are ever the same. Every customer of ours has a distinct personality. Recruiting the candidate that fits best within a corporate personality is what we do best. Unearthing that fit is what defines us.
